Accessories

The accessories you choose to wear alongside your clothes and make-up are an important addition to the fashion statement you make. Choosing the right earrings, necklace, bracelet and watch all help to make a statement about you and your fashion sense. As indeed, for a lady is her handbag!

A good quote is that “A fashion accessory is an item used to contribute, in a secondary manner, to the wearer’s outfit, often used to complete an outfit and chosen to specifically complement the wearer’s look”.

Your choice allows you to express your personality and sense of style. Take an ultra simple outfit in neutral colors, add accessories and paint a picture of the person you’d like to be!  There are plenty of tips available to help you decide what is right for you and the outfit you are wearing but here are a few very basic suggestions:

Wear only a few carefully selected accessories at a time
Wearing a full jewellery getup, complete with earrings, necklaces, bracelets, and rings, can overwhelm your look. Try wearing either earrings or a necklace instead of both, and limiting how many rings you wear at once. But if you do decide to, make sure they aren’t competing for attention

Match bold accessories with simple clothes.
If your outfit is neutral in color then wearing boldly colored accessories will draw attention to them and away from your clothes. You can happily wear a chunky necklace or bracelet or large colored earings.

Avoid trying to match colors.
Trying to find an accessory that is the exact color of your outfit is nigh on impossible and will clash if it is a different shade. Far better to pick something totally different that will complement the clothes you are wearing.

Balance your accessories.
If you’re wearing a pair of large, dangling earrings, don’t pair them with a large necklace. Your look will be more balanced if you wear a smaller necklace (or no necklace at all) so that your face isn’t overwhelmed by too much heavy jewellery.
